Some researchers believe that the depression is a genetic phenomenon. This seems to be somehow true in the case of the Bi polar disorders but it is not very common. One cay say that it is one of the biggest problem in the people particularly belonging to the developed nations. There can be many causes of the depression most of them are induced by the environment around the people in which they are working.
Some of the prominent and the most important causes of the depression are as following,
1.       Stress by the work
2.       Hormonal disturbances in the body
3.       Past physical, emotional and sexual abuse can be a source of depression in many people
4.       Some drugs can cause certain modification in the bodies of the people which may sometime result in depression
5.       Disputes among the family members or the loved ones can also be source of the depression
6.       Death or loss which results in the sadness over a long period can result in depression
7.       A serious illness can also lead a person to the state of the depression
8.       Genetically a person can have the root of depression coming from the elders in the family.
Depression is an extremely complex disease. It occurs for a variety of reasons. Some people experience depression during a serious medical illness. Others may have depression with life changes such as a move or the death of a loved one. Still others have a family history of depression. Those who do may experience depression and feel overwhelmed with sadness and loneliness for no known reason. It has been a dilemma over the past centuries. The rate of depression is continually increasing with an increase in the rate of the worldly progress.  There have been evidences that the people with a low self esteem most of the times get affected by the depression. So in this case there must be the proper arrangement and the steps must be taken with accordance to the situation of the people who are experiencing it. Imbalance in the metabolism of the body must be avoided as it is the biggest cause.
