Breast cancer and its types

Breast cancer, as the name shows its association with the tissues of the breast. Breast cancer is classified as following,
1.       Ductal carcinoma
2.       Lobular carcinoma
Ductal carcinoma is because of disorder in the ducts of the breast which carry milk the nipples.
Lobular carcinoma on the other hand is because of some disorder in the lobules which are the factory for milk in the breasts. Ductal carcinoma and the lobular carcinoma can also be in situ.


Ductal carcinoma is the one which is more common in the women as compared to the lobular carcinoma. However, the breast cancer is associated with any part of the breasts. It is metastatic or benign depending on the conditions. In most of the cases breast cancer is sensitive to the abnormal level of estrogen in the body of the women. This is because that there are some receptors in the breasts of the women which is sensitive to the estrogen hormone. So such condition of the breast cancer is termed as estrogen receptor positive cancer.

It is also noticed that some women have another kind of the breast cancer named as HER2 positive breast cancer. It is because of the gene that helps in the growth, repair and the division of the cells of the breast.
